Seven Purposes of Flags


1. To show our identity.
Numbers 1:52 - "Each man should set up his tent in his own camp under his own standard."

2.To gather the exiles.
Isaiah 11:12 - "He will raise a banner for the nations and gather the exiles of Israel; he will assemble the scattered people of Judah from the four quarters fo the earth."

3. To prepare the way.
Isaiah 62:10 - "Pass through the gates! Prepare the way for the people. Build up, build up the highway! Remove the stones. Raise a banner for the nations."

4. To celebrate Jesus' victory.
Psalm 20:5 - "We will shout for joy when you are victorious and will lift up our banners in the name of our God."

5. To proclaim Jesus' victory.
Jeremiah 50:2 - " Announce and proclaim among the nations, lift up a banner and proclaim it; keep back nothing, but say "Babylon will be captured; Bel will be put to shame, Marduk filled with terror.""

6. To destroy the enemy.
Isaiah 31:9 - "Their stronghold will fall because of terror; at the sight of the battle standard their commanders will panic, declares the Lord, whose fire is in Zion, whose furnace is in Jerusalem."

7. To rouse the warriors.
Isaiah 13:2 - "Raise a banner on a bare hilltop, shout to them; beckon ot them to enter the gates of the nobles. I have commanded my holy ones; I have summoned my warriors to carry out my wrath- those who rejoice in my triumph...... The Lord Almighty is mustering an army for war."
